Online Marketing - You've Got to Make It Happen
If you want things to happen, you need to make them happen. Planning is important, but the best plan is worthless if not acted upon. What may seem like an enormous task is actually like a long journey-it begins with one step, then another and another. Start running with your plan now! With each step you take you are getting closer to your goal. Standing still, you will never get any where.
Standing still and waiting for something to happen is the most common and one of the most serious mistakes for a budding attraction marketer. This is your dream! Throw yourself into it enthusiastically, give it all you have!
Michael Masterson, the self-made multimillionaire marketer with Agora Publishing and “Early to Rise” published a book not long ago entitled “Ready, Fire, Aim”. The premise of “Ready, Fire, Aim” is “don’t wait for everything to be perfect.” You don’t have to have all of your ducks lined up in a row. Just jump into your business with energy, total commitment, and enthusiasm. You’ll be glad you did.
Many people won’t get started right away because they are waiting for better tools. It takes a lot of energy to overcome inertia. Man has a tendency toward procrastination, and this is just another means of putting things off. Don’t wait for better tools, start with the tools you have and as you proceed toward business success, better tools will be made available to you.
You will learn as much from your mistakes as from your successes, so don’t be fearful of getting in there and doing something. When I was teaching, I was very demanding. I made sure my students understood the meaning of “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. So keep doing and keep learning, and you will be doing it right!
Ty Tribble is a world leader among those who write online about internet marketing. He also learned from his mistakes. He shares the story of how, when he was starting out, he would hide out in his garage to make phone calls regarding his new business, so no one could hear him. He would spend most of his time doing unproductive busy work, pretending to get ready to make calls, when he was actually avoiding them. He needed to just get on the phone and do it! He was the poster child for procrastination.
If he allocated two hours to make phone calls, he’d spend 110 minutes getting ready to make his calls – sharpening his pencils, adjusting his chair, changing the angle of his desk lamp, double-checking the time zone of the telephone numbers he was about to call, and using more time-wasting approaches than you can probably ever imagine. In the end, he only had time for one or two calls each night. He knows what procrastination is all about.
Now, Ty stresses that massive action creates massive results. He emphasizes how important it is to start taking action toward your goals. He’s tired of endless talking and planning. So his spin on the quote I gave you earlier is “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing wrong.” The point is to take action; it’s time to start doing.
Some of us are so afraid. We ask ourselves, “What will people think? What if I fail?” Well, I answer, “Who cares what people think?” Get out there and do what ‘s best for you and your family.
Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb on his first try. When someone teased him about all the failures he had so far in trying to make his idea work, he replied “We now know a thousand ways not to build a light bulb.” Every effort brought him closer to his dream.
Starting a new enterprise requires a lot of learning at the beginning, but if you get a good foundation, and reinforce your knowledge with action, you will soon be cruising at high speed. Success will become a habit, part of the way you do everything. When opportunities arise, you will immediately know exactly what to do to take advantage of them; you will no longer be troubled by fears and doubts and “what if’s.
You’ll learn as you go, so get started with confidence. You’ve probably heard the expression that 99% of success is showing up. However, many people don’t even show up. But you will.
I recently attended a live even training with Jeff Walker, a master internet marketer and the creator of the product launch formula. He told a story about the time he offered a free website review to anyone who purchased a specific product from him. After the product was sold, he determined that he owed 60 people bonus website reviews.
Jeff is very thorough and detail oriented. He was worried about how long it would take him to complete all 60 website reviews as he promised. However, he is also a man of his word, so he was prepared when the first person contacted him. He spent about 2 hours doing the review. The same thing happened with the second and third people to contact him.
Jeff braced himself and was prepared to do 57 more reviews, but no one else ever came forward to request the free service. A free website review would certainly have helped people, but they never took action to get it.
Napoleon Hill, a pioneer of motivational literature and author of one of the all time best sellers, “Think and Grow Rich” once wrote “Action is the real measure of intelligence.” I could not have said it any better.
